Another place where you can read some of my thoughts is my website http://braindiseases.info

I appreciate all my readers comments. If you have a partcular neurological problem and are willing to share the history with others online, I shall be more than happy to discuss it with you.

I have got some angry comments from my readers regarding my post on Fibromyalgia (you can read all the comments, as I did post them online). I appreciate these comments and it just goes to show that we still have a long way to go before we truly figure out fibromyalgia. It is important that patients and doctors discuss this disease entity rather than sweeping it under the carpet.

So keep those comments coming!!!

  1. I have a 17 year old daughter who has brain lesions in the white matter. She also has antiphospholipid antibodies, type 1 diabetes, and some type of vasculitis. Her thinking process is now slowing down. They’ve done every type of blood culture they could with PET scans, MR’s, etc. They have no idea why she has the brain lesions and they’re thinking about doing a biopsy on her brain. Is this the only way they can find out what’s going on in her brain? Like I said, they have ran every test possible other than the brain biopsy. What can you tell me?

  2. Hmm Elizabeth, you certainly are dealing with a difficult problem. At times it is very difficult to figure out the etiology of the vasculitic process. Brain biopsy is usually the last resort as the procedure does carry some risk. At times we do a biopsy of the leptomeninges (the meninges are the coverning layers of the brain) and not the brain itself. Did your daughter have a spinal tap?
Please feel free to contact me if you have any further query.
